Montessori education was created by the Italian physician Maria Montessori, who opened her first Casa dei Bambini (Children's House) in Rome in 1907. Children of different ages learn together in a prepared environment: they choose their own work with the materials, and the teacher observes and helps when needed. Below are kindergartens, schools and centres that follow Montessori or include it in their programme, by country, region and city. We check every listing by hand.

- US Montessori organisations to publish their first joint curriculum
The Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), its US branch, the American Montessori Society (AMS) and their joint Montessori Public Policy Initiative (MPPI) are preparing the first US National Montessori Curriculum. It is the first time the leading Montessori organisations have written one curriculum together; it will set out the principles and practice of a fully implemented Montessori programme. The first part, covering birth to age six, is due in late 2026 and will be free to read on the MPPI website. Source: Montessori Public Policy Initiative (MPPI)
